They definitely give more to the users than most Filmmaking companies out there!īlackmagic Design originally bought DaVinci Resolve (the software) in 2010 from the original developers, but there’s more on that story here. Many films have been created, edited and processed using DaVinci Resolve.Ĭompared to other paid video editing software, DaVinci has a free version which allows it to soar ahead of the competition. DaVinci is used in many different industries worldwide but primarily in Hollywood. That’s one of the best advantages of this groundbreaking video editing software. Peace.DaVinci Resolve is free, well for the most part. I'm sure I will be back soon enough for questions in the workflow once I have the full package. Once again, I thank everyone who answered here over the last 24 hours and hope that this post helps people searching for this question in the future. After going through all your answers I went down a deep rabbit hole of research into the software and saw how much it would step up my game, particularly with the face enhancement as my first few gigs will no doubt be within the modelling industry. I ended up doing the maths and then making a lowball offer and they accepted, I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for a license within the $150 range though. My current company is paying for my Adobe suite privileges and I think I will try my luck at seeing if they will purchase Resolve for me once the lockdown is over (We're just hitting the peak here, so I won't even be able to get out any time soon). They really brought me up to speed with how essential it is. I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger on this and use the free version or buy a new BMPCC with Resolve and build up the gear slower.ĮDIT: Thank you guys so much for your indepth responses. ![]() How much value would you guys say the full version of Resolve has? I hadn't noticed much of a limitation in the past, however I haven't worked with a BMPCC workflow before so I guess I'm a bit out of the loop. With money being a little tight at the moment, I've turned to eBay and found a nice bundle package for it, however, the license was already used by the owner. I've been in the market for a while now for a BMPCC 4K so that I can break out of just being a freelance editor and enter the videography game. I've only used it in the past to colour grade on particular projects. Hey guys, I'm an occassional user of DaVinci Resolve. ![]()
